Five signs it is time to update the interior of your business space

1. Feeling uninspired?
Are you or your staff starting to feel like it’s becoming harder and harder to walk into work each day feeling inspired? Do you look around and feel your space doesn’t promote excitement about your product or service? Chances are your interior space may be in the need of a refresh.

All businesses evolve with age, and while your space may have been built for a purpose when you first opened your doors, you are more than likely not operating the same you did on day one. You may have more staff, different product or have simply realised the space is not reflective of how your business operates today.

A re-design can assist you and your staff in finding motivation and connection again with your business. In turn, productivity will increase, job satisfaction and most importantly, an overall sense of pride in your business.
2. Your client numbers are dwindling
Customer needs and wants evolve, as should our business offerings. Is your business feeling a little stale to your clients? When was the last time you asked for feedback? Though we understand the ebbs and flows of the economy can affect our business, we also need to be mindful that we are not operating from a business perspective with blinkers on.
The purchase of a product or service is a sign of a connection between two parties. Dwindling customer numbers may partly be because you have lost connection with your value offering. A redesign shows you are ‘taking care’ of your business and willing to spend the time, effort and money in reconnecting with old and potential clients.
3. You have outgrown your space
Your business has grown over the years, yesss! But, that also means more than likely you need to evaluate your space. Maybe your product offer has increased or simply you have changed your offerings, so a space you moved into five or so years ago may not be suitable for you, your team or your clients anymore. It may not mean moving to a larger space, but can your space be used more efficiently to serve its purpose? Can you move up, down or out? A design analysis is a perfect way to see how the business is working for you and how it can be improved. This is just one of the services a qualified Interior Designer can do for a business.
4. You have rebranded.
Branding experts say that every five years we should consider rebranding. Why? Well, let’s be honest, your business has changed no doubt over the years and so has your customer. Even the big brand names have rebranded multiple times over the years and smaller businesses need to as well. Have a close look at your business from your client’s perspective, or better yet, speak to a professional branding expert whose role is to look at your brand with a critical eye. A few questions to ask yourself;
• Is my look and feel how I want my business to be represented?
• Is my space reflective of our business values?
• Do my logo, colour palette and fonts need an update?
• Do my clients want to spend time here? Is it clean, safe, comfortable and inviting?

5. You have more competition.

You may have started a business when there was little competition around in the same market as yourself. Chances are, you are not alone anymore. With a region like the Sunshine Coast as an example, we are attracting thousands of new residents from larger cities like Sydney and Melbourne each year. This once sleepy, regional town is now growing mostly due to the trend of moving out of larger cities. While this has its advantages, it also means as business owners we need to be offering our best selves.

If you are opening a Restaurant, for example, people are expecting higher quality fit-outs than ever before. While there will always be space for “cheap and cheerful” renovations, the reality is you need to stand out to make it nowadays.

Hiring an Interior Designer to help you analyse your competition and create a destination’’ is something we pride ourselves on when designing a project for you.
